Russian Line Infantry Standards 1812 The Russian Army's line infantry was organized by "Inspections" before 1812, with each Inspection, a military district, having a distinctive color of uniform facings and the cross portion of their regimental flags, which had white corners. The exception for the Model 1803 standards was St. Petersburg, the capital, which had black corners. When the army was reorganized into divisions, the regiments generally retained their old Inspection-based flags. Newer regiments often had different patterns.
